“Our Forest Our Help” – Green Ghana, 2023

“Green Ghana” is a government initiative which seeks to create a collective action towards the restoration of degraded landscapes in the country, mitigate climate change and inculcate in the youth the values of planting and nurturing trees and their associate benefits. This event has become a part and parcel of the very important events on the national calendar. The theme for this year’s “Green Ghana” is “Our Forest Our Help”.

In the Kadjebi District, the ceremonial planting of trees was carried out at the forefront of the newly commissioned District Magistrate Court. Present at the grounds were; the DCE for Kadjebi District, the Magistrate of the District Magistrate Court, the Paramount Chief for the Dodo Traditional Area, staff of the Kadjebi District Assembly, Forestry Commission and some citizenry of the Kadjebi District.

The Hon. DCE for Kadjebi District; Hon. Wilson Agbanyo in his speech appealed to his people to embrace the planting exercise to help mitigate climate change. He added that it will also help in the restoration of the lost forest, landscape and vegetative cover in the Kadjebi District and Ghana at large.

In his concluding remarks, he emphasized on how this exercise is going to add value and beauty to the district. He emphatically cautioned people who cut down trees without going through the appropriate licensing procedures. He stated that, perpetrators will be brought to book and punished accordingly.
