VICE PRESIDENT COMMISSIONS THE JASIKAN-DODO-PEPESU STRETCH OF THE EASTERN CORRIDOR ROAD

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has commissioned the 56.4km Jasikan-Dodo Pepesu stretch of the Eastern Corridor Road for which he cut sod on 8th September, 2022 at Kadjebi, the capital of the Kadjebi District of Oti Region.

He gave a brief overview of the scope of works that have been done on the road and these included: re-engineering of the vertical and horizontal alignments of sections of the road to improve side distance and overall safety on the road, extension and reconstruction of existing culverts, constructions of new drains among others. 

The Vice President mentioned that, completion of the Jasikan-Dodo-Pepesu Road is a major milestone to the completion of the Eastern Corridor Road. He added that, this road will go a long way to increase accessibility between major towns and villages along the stretch of the road. The road will serve as a major link connecting very important towns such as Jasikan, Kadjebi, Menuso, Dzindzinso, Poase-Cement, Koto-Nkwanta, Ahamansu, Dodi-Papasi, Dodo-Pepesu among other major towns in the Oti Region.

His excellency Dr Mahamudu Bawumia added that, the government is working very hard towards completing other stretches of the Eastern Corridor Road in the region and Ghana at large. He assured the people that the government through the ministry of Roads and highways shall ensure a yearly supervision of the road to ensure effective maintenance of the road. He encouraged the District Assemblies, Traditional Authorities among other stakeholders to mass up towards ensuring the maintenance of the road.

Very important personalities in addition to the Vice President graced the ceremony. Notable among them includes: the Minister for Roads and Highway; Hon Amoako Atta, The Oti Regional Minister; Hon Joshua Makubu, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana; Hon. Lii Kuu, MDCEs and representatives from the 9 MMDAs across the region, Traditional authorities from the 6 Town/Area councils in Kadjebi District, religious leaders and staff of the Kadjebi District Assembly among others.
