2022 FIRST ORDINARY MEETING OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY-KADJEBI DISTRICT

The Meeting started with an opening prayer said by the Honourable Member for Wawaso; Hon. Anthony K. Ahiable, This was followed immediately by singing of the National Anthem by staff and Honourable members present. The Hon. Presiding Member in his opening remarks elaborated on his gratitude towards honourable members for electing him as the Presiding Member of the Assembly. He assured them that, he will do his best to preside over the progress and development of the District.

A sessional Address comprising an Executive Committee Report was delivered by the DCE; Honourable Wilson Agbanyo. Hon. DCE in the address and on behalf of management expressed his appreciation to the immediate past Presiding Member; Hon. Daniel Kojo Nyame for distinguishing himself in his role as Presiding Member for Kadjebi District Assembly.

The address of the Hon. DCE touched on critical areas such as; Status of the Assembly, Development and infrastructural Projects, Security, Local Economic Development, Finances of the Assembly, Sanitation, Social Interventions, Governance and inclusive Development, Health among others. These critical areas as elaborated in the address became the major issues for discussion during the meeting.

With the issue of maintaining Security across the District, Hon. DCE stated that various interventions as recommended by DISEC has been undertaken. He went ahead to caution staff, Assembly Members and everyone present to stay vigilant and make themselves useful towards Ghana’s fight against threats of terrorism.

In terms of General Administration, Hon. DCE mentioned that, the various Departments of the Assembly are going about their core functions of supporting the Assembly to deliver the needed services to the people of Kadjebi District. He informed the house that, the Assembly has received and amount of GHC. 1,139,846.00 as against an allocation of GHC. 1,198,224.00 as DPAT 5 funds for investment and capacity building. This investment grant as stated has been earmarked for the construction of a new lorry station at Kadjebi, procurement of 600No. dual desks for basic schools in the District and construction of 1No. shed and rehabilitation of 4No. sheds at Poase Cement Market.

It was also revealed from the speech that, on the 11th of February, 2022, a ceremony was held to hand over some electronic empowerment equipment/items to some PWD beneficiaries. Hon. DCE, with his management team and committees under the Assembly on several occasions have also visited the Agenda 111 hospital site to see progress of work.

Hon. DCE ended his speech by drawing the attention of members to the alarming rate of spread of HIV/AIDS in the District. He admonished all and sundry to contribute in their own ways towards reducing the spread.

Other issues that came up during the Meeting include: Issues relating to peace and stability in the District, supply of water and the general wellbeing of people in all communities across the District.
