The Kadjebi District Assembly has held 3 separate HIV testing programmes in Three selected communities to mark this year’s World Aids Day celebrations. The celebrations which falls on December 1 every year was on the theme “Communities make the difference: Help end Aids”.
The 3 communities are Ahamansu, Dzamlome and Dodo Fie. the programme saw over 500 persons attending with over 200 offering themselves to be screened. Out of a total of 204 screened, one person was reactive and was therefore referred to the hospital for further tests to be carried out.
Officials of the Kadjebi district Assembly and the District Health Directorate including the Public Health Nurse, Madam Sophia Zoryeku Senam and the District HIV Focal Person, Mr. Umar Abdul-Baki took turns to educate the participants on the need to lead healthy lifestyles and to also regularly go for check ups to know their status. The HIV Focal Person admonished the people present not to shun people living with HIV in their localities. He advised them to rather be kind to them since that is the time they need societies support more.
Members of the public took turns to ask questions on HIV/AIDS which were duly answered by officials present to climax a very successful WAD celebrations.
