District Chief Executive visits Menuso Border Post

The District chief Executive for the Kadjebi District has paid a working visit to the Menuso Border as part of efforts to familiarize himself with the workings of the Agencies at the border post.

In his discussions with officers of the post He said the visit was important as he was to formally introduce himself to staff of the post and also to see how the temppporary of the country’s land borders were being enforced. He said issues of cross border crimes was something he was keen on tackling and encouraged the Officers of the Ghana Revenue authority and the Ghana Immigration Service to be vigilant at all times.

The HHon DCE also added that he was aware of attempts by developers to acquire and develop lands around the border and added that the Assembly was therefore making arrangements to properly demarcated lands and was therefore in the process of developing a local plan for the area to ensure there are no issues aridong out of athe development taking place in the area.

In his welcome statements, the Officer In Charge at the border, Mr. DD Barnes, said he was happy with the visit and said they were ready to assist te DCE and by extension the government implement their programmes. He said the losure of the border was being strictly adhered to at the post. He added that the main challenge they had in the area had to do with encroachment on the border ands and said he was therefore happy to hear of the preparation of the Local plan. He said the GRA Head Office had provided indenture to the land and was hopeful that the local plans would further affirm their ownership of the said lands.

Th HHon DCE was accompanied on the visit by the Chief of Menuso, Nana Tutu II, The Linguist of the Kadjebi Omahene, Okyeame Akyea, the District Planning Officer, Mr. Abdul-Baki Umar and the Head of the Department of Physical Planning, Mr. Gyasi Bright.
