Kadjebi District Assembly hands over site for Agenda 111 District Hospital Project

The District Chief Executive for Kadjebi, Hon Wilson Agbanyo has today handed over the site for the proposed construction of a district hospital for the Kadjebi District under the government’s Agenda 111 District Hospitals projects.

In a short ceremony before the Handing over, Hon Agbanyo commended the government of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for remembering the good people of the Kadjebi District in their selection of beneficiary districts. He noted that this would not only inure to the benefit of the people in terms of much needed health interventions but also in the area of youth employment and local economic development (LED). He therefore called on the consultant and the contractors to ensure a large chunk of the work force are sourced from across the district and also make sure materials for the construction are procured within the district. He assured them of the full commitment of the Assembly and all the Traditional Authorities within the district and urged them to do their work diligently without fear. He added that this was the first project under the Agenda 111 to be implemented in the Oti Region.

On his part, the lead Consultant for the project, Mr. Larry Attipoe, assured the Chief Executive of their willingness to resume work as soon as practicable and was hopeful the work would be delivered within the 18 month period given. He added that they were conscious of the LED component and said majority of the labour and artisans would be recruited from within the district.

In a brief presentation on what to expect when the Hospital is completed, Mr. Romeo Djan, lead architect for the project, said the Hospital will have the capacity of 100 beds. It would also contain facilities such as the OPD and maternity wards as well as Accidents and Emergency Centre. He said it would be fitted with state-of-the-art equipments to ensure efficient and quality healthcare delivery services and was hopeful it would be a success story.

The delegation and the invited guests made up of Nananom and key stakeholders in the district including the the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Alhassan Sulemana, the Director of Health Services, Eric Nana Takyi, District Director of Education, Mr. Dei Seyram, District Police Commander, Mr. Gyan Mante as well as some Assembly members in the district then moved to the site for the Handing over. The site is located on the Kadjebi-Asato Road, right after the Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School.
